Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MeetPlayNow Bangkok League.

General

Why should I play in MeetPlayNow?

MeetPlayNow connects amateur sports players across Bangkok in a structured league format. You play regular matches against opponents at your level, climb the rankings, and meet like-minded players — without the commitment of a club membership.

How is the league different from one-off tournaments?

Tournaments are single weekends with a knock-out bracket. Our league runs 8 rounds over the season using Swiss pairing — you keep playing even after losses, your MPN-Ranking grows with every match, and you build longer-term tennis friendships.

Can I play if I'm a beginner?

Yes. We have three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Levels are based on your MPN-Ranking, and you only get matched against players in your category.

How are the levels defined?

Tennis MPN-Ranking brackets: Beginner 0–1199, Intermediate 1200–1499, Advanced 1500+. Brackets do not overlap — a value of 1200 is Intermediate, 1500 is Advanced. Other sports use comparable thresholds adjusted for the discipline.

Is there an age limit?

Players must be 18 or older. Younger players need explicit organizer approval and a parent/guardian acknowledgement.

Are there prizes?

Top performers in each category receive recognition, partner vouchers, and free entry to the next season. Specific prize details are announced before each season.

How do I contact support?

Use the in-platform chat to reach the organizer, or email us via the address on the Contact page. We typically respond within 24 hours.

Entrance Fee

How much is the entrance fee?

Tennis & Padel: 700 THB per tournament. Pickleball, Badminton, Squash, Ping Pong: 300 THB per tournament. League seasons may have a different fee — see the registration page.

Are court costs included in the fee?

No. The entrance fee covers league administration, rankings, scheduling and platform costs. Players share court rental costs equally for each match they arrange together.

What does my fee cover?

Platform operations, MPN-Ranking calculations, automated scheduling, customer support, season-end prizes, and partner ecosystem development.

What if I sign up but can't play?

Each player receives 4 Joker Cards per regular season to postpone matches by one week. For longer absences, see the refund policy.

How do I pay?

Credit/debit card via the secure payment gateway on the registration page. Other Thai payment methods (PromptPay, bank transfer) will be added soon.

Can I get a refund?

Fees are non-refundable once the season draw has begun, except in cases of organizer cancellation. Before the draw, refunds may be granted on a case-by-case basis — contact the organizer.

Signing Up

How long is a season?

Each regular season runs 8 rounds of Swiss pairing followed by playoffs — typically 10 to 12 weeks total.

What's my starting MPN-Ranking as a first-timer?

All new players start at 1500. Your rating moves up or down after each match based on Elo-style calculations — beating a stronger opponent gains more points; losing to a weaker one costs more. Within 5–8 matches your rating converges to a realistic level for the Swiss pairing system.

I don't know what level I'm at — how do I choose?

Start at Beginner if you're new to competitive play, Intermediate if you play regularly with mixed results against decent club players, or Advanced if you regularly beat club-level opponents. The organizer can move you between categories if your level is clearly inconsistent.

Are there separate divisions for men and women?

Currently all divisions are mixed. As the community grows we will introduce gender-specific divisions where there is enough demand.

What's the minimum number of players for a category to run?

Tennis: Beginner 8 players, Intermediate 10, Advanced 10. If a category falls below threshold, it may be merged with the adjacent level.

Can I change my level between seasons?

Yes. Between seasons your level is suggested based on your MPN-Ranking from previous play. You can request a different level — the organizer has final say.

Which cities does the league cover?

MeetPlayNow currently operates only in Bangkok, Thailand. Expansion to other Thai cities is being evaluated based on community interest.

My sport isn't listed — can you add it?

Tennis is live. Padel, Pickleball, Badminton, Squash and Ping Pong are coming next. If you'd like to be notified when your sport launches, subscribe to the newsletter.

How is my personal data handled?

Data is processed under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) B.E. 2562. We collect only what's needed for league operation, never sell data, and you can request access or deletion via the Privacy page.

How the League Works

How do players choose where to play?

Players agree on a venue together using the in-platform chat. If they can't agree, the player listed first on the Matches tab decides — the default surface is hard court.

When are matches scheduled?

Round 1 is drawn on Monday (after 10:00 AM Bangkok time); subsequent rounds are drawn on Sunday (after 10:00 PM). Players then arrange a match time within the round window.

Are matches refereed?

All matches are self-officiated — players call their own lines and resolve disputes calmly. Honesty and good sportsmanship are required.

How do I contact my opponent?

Use the in-platform chat. The default language is English to ensure clarity across Bangkok's international community. You must reply within 48 hours of being paired.

What if my opponent doesn't respond?

After reasonable attempts (proven via chat history), the organizer may award the match by walkover. The non-responder loses the round and may be temporarily removed from future draws.

What if my opponent shows up late?

A player arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior notice may lose the match by walkover.

What happens if a match isn't played by the deadline?

The system auto-evaluates based on chat activity, agreed dates and Joker Card usage. If no progress was made, the match may close without a winner and inactive players may be removed.

What's a Joker Card?

Each player receives 4 Joker Cards per regular season. A Joker Card lets you postpone a match by one week. They cannot be transferred or carried over to the next season.

What's a Super Joker?

If a match has already closed, both players can agree to a Super Joker — a re-opening that costs 4 Joker Cards total (2 from each player) — to complete the match before season end.

Are matches always against players of similar strength?

Yes. Swiss pairing matches you against the closest available opponent you haven't yet played, within your category — so your matches are roughly your level throughout the season.

How are rankings calculated?

Three signals: league standings (points from wins), MPN-Ranking (updated after every match), and tiebreakers (strength of schedule). Walkovers earn points but don't affect MPN-Ranking.

Who enters the match result?

The winner enters the final score within 24 hours after playing. The opponent verifies and confirms. Conflicting submissions are resolved by the organizer with supporting evidence.

How does Swiss pairing work?

After each round, players are ranked by current points. The top-ranked player is paired with the nearest player they haven't yet faced, working down the standings until everyone is paired. This produces fair matchups every round without elimination.

What is the MPN-Ranking and how does it change?

MPN-Ranking is a rating system used in competitive sports — you gain rating points for winning, lose points for losing. The amount depends on the gap between you and your opponent: beating a stronger player gains more; losing to a weaker one costs more. Your rating updates after every match and is the basis for level brackets and Swiss pairing.

Partners

Why should a venue or brand partner with MeetPlayNow?

Reach an engaged, active audience of amateur Bangkok players. We drive recurring bookings to partner venues and offer brands targeted exposure inside the league experience.

Who is your audience?

Adults 28–45 living and working in Bangkok, with disposable income, who play sport regularly. Both Thai nationals and the international expat community.

What do partners get?

Listing on the Venues page (for courts), branded presence in tournament pages, and access to MeetPlayNow's community newsletter. Pricing depends on scope.

How do I become a partner?

Email partnerships via the address on the Contact page with your business name, location and proposed format. We typically reply within 3 business days.

What are the partnership conditions?

Partners must offer a service relevant to amateur sports (venues, equipment, coaching, sports medicine, sports F&B). We maintain editorial control over the league experience.

Who do I talk to about partnerships?

Use the Contact page or the in-platform chat — the organizer routes partnership inquiries to the team.
